xTool S1 review: enclosed diode workflow with large-format expansion

This review is based on current xTool specifications and support documentation. We are not claiming hands-on testing.

xTool currently documents S1 configurations with 20W and 40W diode modules. The 20W model has a 498 × 330 mm working area; the 40W model is 498 × 319 mm. Both list maximum working speed of 600 mm/s, and both can expand to a 470 × 3000 mm working area with the automatic conveyor feeder plus additional rails.

Best fit

20W vs 40W

xTool positions the 40W option for greater cutting capability and efficiency, while the 20W option keeps a slightly finer listed spot dimension on one axis and may suit engraving-heavy workflows. Rotary work requires more than the attachment

xTool documents S1 rotary use with the RA2 / RA2 Pro and requires the riser base for that setup. Budget the complete accessory stack, not just the rotary. See the rotary compatibility database.

Where the S1 is weaker

The S1 is a blue-diode platform rather than a fiber-focused metal system. If your business centers on direct metal engraving, compare it with dual-source or fiber options instead of choosing based on work area alone.
